Kakatiyas-Ganapatideva

Ganapatideva, son of Mahadeva ruled Kakatiya Kingdom from 1199 to 1262 A.D.
Ganapatideva was greatest among all Kakatiya rulers and ruled for a long period.
During his period Kakatiya Kingdom reached its zenith.
He annexed south Kalinga, North-western Telangana and Coastal Andhra.
Ganapatideva completed the construction of Orugallu and shifted the capital from Hanumakonda to Orugallu.
The famous poet Tikkana Somayaji who was the court poet of Manumasiddi visited the Kakatiya court during the period of Ganapatideva.
He promoted trade and commerce and issued "Abhaya Sasanam" at Motupalli port.
He constructed Swayambhudevalayam and Sahasralingalayam at Hanumakonda.
Ganapatideva had the title of "Rayagajakesari".
Ganapatideva was defeated in Muttukur war by Jatavarma Sundara Pandya.
