Second Carnatic War: 1748-54

1. Second Carnatic war took place between French and British without the permission of their mother countries.
2. Nizam-ul-mulk, Deccan subedar, was died in 1748. Consequently a war of succession broke out between Mujaffar Jung and Nasir Jung.
3. Mujaffar Jung requested the help of French.
4. French declared Mujaffar Jung as Nizam of Hyderabad.
5. The English helped Nasir Jung. He took the field in 1750.
6. Muzzafar Jung was defeated and imprisoned.
7. But Cuddapah and Kurnool Nawabs killed Nazar Jung.
8. Later French installed Mujaffar Jung as Nizam of Huderabad.
9. Muzafar Jung was killed in January 1751 and the Salabat Jung was put on throne by the Bussy.
10. Bussy got the possession of Northern circars which were entirely managed by the French.
   
1. After the release of Chanda saheb from Maratha captivity conflict started between Chanda Saheb and Anwar-ud-din for the Nawab ship of carnatic.
2. Muzzafar Jung and Chanda Sahib helped by the French defeated Anwar-ud-din in August 1949 in the battle of Amber.
3. In the battle Anwaruddin was killed. Chanda Sahib was recognized as the Nawab of Arcot.
4. English started supporting Mohammad Ali, son of Anwaruddin.
5. English invaded Arcot Under Robert Clive.
6. Clive occupied Arcot.
7. It is the turning point in the contest between the French and the English.
8. Chanda Sahib was defeated and killed and the whole of the Carnatic fell into the hands of the English.
9. Mohammad Ali was installed as Nawab of Carnatic.
10. The French defeat at Arcot was beginning of French down fall in India.
11. Dupleix failed to recover his position and was recalled in 1754.
12. Dupleix was succeeded by Godeheu.
13. He entered into new treaty with the English in 1755.
14. As per the treaty French agreed to give away all that they had captured so far. This treaty made the English stronger.
