To suppress the revolutionary activities after the First World War the British Government passed two acts, which were made by the committee under the chairmanship of Rowlatt. |

As per the Rowlatt Acts the Government had the power to arrest any person with out showing any reason. |

The Acts were threat to the civil liberties. Hence Gandhi gave a call for Satyagraha. |

A national wide hartal was called on March 30, 1919. But it was postponed to April 6, 1919. |

April 6, 1919 was observed as the day of resentment. |

Gandhi was arrested. Rowlatt acts were not withdrawn. |
