1. During the period of Louis XIV the French emperor, French East India company was established by colbert, the chief Minister of Louis XIV.
2. The last Europeans entered into India for trade was French.
3. French established its first trading centre at surath in 1668.
4.  Later they established trading centres at Machilipatnam, Pandicherry, Chandernagore, Yanam, Mahe and Karaikal Pondicherry was the French head quarter in India.
5. It was founded by Francis Martin. Francis Martin, Lenoir and Duma were French Director Generals in India.
6. In 1742 Dupleix became the French Director General in India he was the founder of French empire in India.
7. French secured a Firmana from Mughal Emperor in 1717. This Firmana granted French certain concessions.
