Kakatiyas

  • As per the "Prataparudra Yashobhushanam" written by Vidyanadha, Kakatiyas got their name because they worshipped the goddess called "Kakati".
  • The founder of Kakatiya dynasty was Kakartya Gundaya (954). But he was not independent ruler. He was the chief of the Koravi domain.
  • Betaraja I, Prolaraja I, Betaraja II, and Durgaraja were not independent rulers. They ruled as feudatories of Kalyani Chalukyas.
  • Prolaraja II was the first independent ruler of Kakatiya dynasty.
  • Rudradeva, Ganapatideva and Rudramadevi were the prominent rulers of this dynasty.
  • Ganapatideva was greatest among the kakatiya rulers.
  • Rudramadevi was the first woman ruler of Andhra.
  • Prataparudra II was the last ruler of Kakatiya dynasty.
  • Recharla Rudra had the title of 'Kakatiyarajya stapanacharya'.
