No. Soil Health Card Scheme
1 Soil Health Card Scheme has been taken up for the first time by Modi Government to provide information to farmers on fertility status of their soil. Earlier some of the States were implementing this scheme at their own level in different ways. There was no uniformity in sample collection, testing and fertilizer recommendation through soil health cards. Money also was not separately given to states earlier.
2 Under this scheme, soil health card will be provided to all farmers of the country at an interval of two years. It will indicate appropriate recommendation of nutrients dosages to be used for crop production and will enable the farmers to improve their soil health and its fertility.
3 Under this scheme a sum of 360 crore rupees has been allocatedfor the year 2016-17 as compared to 142 crore rupees in the year 2015-2016 which is an increase of 155%.
4 In comparison to collection of 1 crore soil samples in the Year 2015-16, 91 lakh samples have been collected from which 4.5 crore cards to be generated and distributed to farmers.
