Share in world trade
1. India has emerged as a significant agriexporter in a few crops, namely cotton, rice, meat, oil meals, spice, guargum meal and sugar.
2. As per the WTO Trade Statistics, the share of India's agricultural exports and imports in the world trade in 2014 were 2.46 per cent and 1.46 per cent respectively.
3. Agricultural exports as a percentage of agricultural GDP increased from 7.95 per cent in 2009-10 to 12.08 per cent in 2014-15.
4. During the same period, agricultural imports as a percentage of agricultural GDP also increased from 4.90 per cent to 5.82 per cent.
