Wheat: It is an important Rabi crop of India. India is one of the leading wheat exporting countries of the world. Wheat needs 10° to 15° C temperature and 50 to 70 cms of annual rainfall.

It is largely grown in Northern plains of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Punjab is known as the “granary of wheat”. Uttar Pradesh stands first in the production of wheat. The yield of Wheat in India is 29073 Kg/Hectare. China is in the first place in producing the Wheat in the world. India is in the second place in the world in producing the Wheat. The average production of Wheat in India from 2005-06 to 2009-10 is 77.04 Million Tonnes.36.
